Note: This blogpost is a top post on Indiblogger.in and has appeared on their homepage. For me, taking up a reading challenge every year has had one sole purpose: To ensure I read. I don’t have a strict reading schedule or preference for genres. I simply pick up any book that appeals in the moment and lose myself amidst its pages.
In that context, tracking my reading through the #BrunchBookChallenge (run by Hindustan Times’s Sunday Magazine – HT Brunch) has been effective as they have very simple rules — a set number of total books in a year which includes x number by Indian authors.
I’ve been familiar with the #PopSugarReadingChallenge but never tried it, thinking the prompts were very specific and, therefore, limiting. When I came across the 2020 challenge on a Facebook Group a few weeks ago, a lot of the prompts seemed interesting and I assumed I had probably covered about half of them.
As I sat down to recap my year in books, I decided to check how many, of the ones I’ve read this year, actually fit into their 2020 prompts. What do you know. I had completed all 50. That makes me a Finisher!!!
Since this is my first time doing this challenge, I may have bent a couple of rules, but from what I gather, everyone makes their own rules for the PopSugar Reading Challenge. It’s all about broadening your reading horizon.
So, after spending an entire day fitting books against each prompt, this is what my accidental success with the PopSugar Reading Challenge 2020 looks like:
I still haven’t decided if I want to do this again this year, but I am definitely considering it 🙂
